1. Is there a charge for paying online?
No, this service is provided at no cost to you.
2. Once I pay online, will I have to pay this way every month?
No. This service is available for your convenience. If you pay online this month, you can send a check next month. There are never any automatic payments, so you remain in control. You decide the amount and date the payment is deducted from your account.
3. Do I have to provide an e-mail address?
No. However, if we do not have an e-mail address, we may not be able to send you an important confirmation. The confirmation verifies we have received your request and are processing your payment. It is also a source of reference if there are any future questions about your online payment.
4. What are the system requirements to use this service?
Because of AES' high security standard, the following browsers need to be used to pay online: Netscape Navigator version 6.2.1 or greater, Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or greater.
5. How secure is my personal information?
We use the most up-to-date encryption technology to ensure your account information is not available to outside sources. Also, we will never provide unauthorized third parties with information regarding how, when, or the amount you pay.
6. What type of accounts can I use to pay online?
You can use either a checking or savings account. At this time, we do not accept debit or credit cards.
7. When will my payment be reflected on my student loan account?
If your payment information is entered prior to 3:00 PM (EST) on the date you selected as your Payment Date, it will normally be viewable online the following business day.
8. When will the funds be deducted from my account?
Your payment will normally be deducted within the two days following the Payment Date you entered.
9. What is the ABA (Routing and Transit) number?
The ABA, or routing and transit number is a unique nine-digit number that identifies your financial institution. When using a checking account, this number can usually be found on the bottom of the check along with the account number.
- Please note that credit unions may use a different ABA number than what appears on the bottom of the check. We suggest you verify your information with your credit union to avoid any disruption in the processing of your payment.
- If you chose to make a payment using a savings account, please verify the ABA number with your financial institution.
- Please note: it is very important that you enter all ABA and account information correctly. This information is used to deduct the funds from your financial institution. If any of the information is wrong, your student loan payment will not be processed.
10. How can I confirm if my payment has been
withdrawn from my financial institution account?
Normally your payment will be withdrawn 1-2 business days following the Payment Date you have selected. To be sure, you can contact your financial institution or verify the withdrawal on your financial institution account statement.
11. What is the cutoff time for entering payments?
The cutoff for any Payment Date is midnight EST.
